We have many opportunities to gather together for learning, helping, & just for fun. If you would like more detailed information about any of these programs, please contact the church office at 518.785.6789 or NewtonvilleUMC@gmail.com.
September-June, we have a vibrant Sunday school program for children aged 4 through grade 12 that meets in 3 separate classrooms. June-August, we provide a One Room setting for children aged 4 through entering 4th grade in the Fall. Children are in worship through the Children's Time, then gather in the lower level of the building to explore bible stories & form friendships. They are released to join their families during coffee hour (about 11:10 am).
Whether your child(ren) will attend once a year or every week, each family is asked to fill out a registration form to help us keep the children safe.
Classes for Adults
Our pastor and trained lay people will occasionally teach classes on scripture, Methodism, and social issues.
At various times of year, we gather for meals. All are invited to bring a dish (hot or cold, savory or sweet) to share with others. Visitors and friends are always welcome!
Prayer Shawl Group
Members of this group gather to knit or crochet shawls that are given to individuals who are ill, suffering a loss, or are otherwise in the midst of a life crisis. Blankets are also made to be given at the baptism of an individual. Lessons are provided. Meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Monday of the month.
Undergrounds Coffeehouse & Open Mic
In order to raise funds for youth programming and provide a safe place for young talent to show off and hone their skills, The youth of NUMC have created Undergrounds Coffeehouse.
About 5 times a year, between September & May*, youth ages 12-18 are encouraged share their talent! All ages are welcome to come enjoy & eat. Hot food & baked goods are featured at our cafe. Suggested donation of $5 at the door. Events begin at 6pm; check calendar for dates.
*Our May show is open to talent of ALL ages!
All youth, grades 7-12, are invited to attend the Newtonville UMC Youth Group. Meetings are typically on Sundays and held about twice a month (please consult the calendar page of this website). The youth have a comfortable meeting room where they watch movies, play games, & discuss church and social issues.
