Rev. Steven M. Smith began as pastor at Newtonville in July of 2011, having served churches in Schenectady, NY since 1997. Steve brings a passion for social justice, youth and children's ministries, worship, and music (he plays guitar and drums). He serves co-chair of the Order of Elders for the Upper New York Annual Conference, and in that capacity on the UNYAC Board of Ordained Ministry. He lives in Newtonville with his wife, Heather, sons Caleb and Sam, and child Jonathan.
Brandon Malowski is serving as our interim director of music. A music teacher at the Lisha Kill Middle School, Brandon is gifted at working with a wide range of musical abilities and interests, enjoys writing musical arrangements, and has skills with musical technology. Most of all, he brings a sense of joy to our worship.
Karin Wheatley serves as both the administrative assistant and as director of the Newtonville Preschool. Karin has degrees in both education and music, and leads our creative and popular preschool program for children aged 3 & 4. In the afternoon she keeps things running smoothly in the church office. As a member of the congregation you're likely to see Karin on Sunday mornings. She lives in Latham, and her family includes husband Jason, daughter Megan, and son Justin.
Richard Bryant is our church sexton, caring for custodial duties and the church grounds. He lives on the property, so you're apt to see him around at various times. We appreciate Richard's gentle good humor and care for us.
