Rev. Steven M. Smith (left) began as pastor at Newtonville in July of 2011, having served churches in Schenectady, NY since 1997. Steve brings a passion for social justice, youth and children's ministries, worship, and music (he plays guitar and drums). He serves on the UNYAC Board of Ordained Ministry and the Albany District Leadership Team. He lives in Newtonville with his wife, Heather, and three sons, Caleb, Sam, and Jonathan.
J. Douglas Esmond (right) serves as the director of music. Doug is a multi-talented musician who sings and plays guitar, piano, organ, cello, and trombone. He teaches privately, and is a published composer who has written many works for worship. Doug welcomes musicians of all ability levels to share their gifts in worship and enjoys working with youth. He resides in the Capital District with his wife, Meighan, and his daughters, Evelyn and Isla.
Karin Wheatley serves as both the church secretary and as director of the Newtonville Preschool. Karin has degrees in both education and music, and leads a creative and popular preschool program. Karin is a member of the congregation, so you're likely to see her on Sunday morning. She lives in Latham with her husband, Jason, and teen-aged children, Megan and Justin.
